COResearch was founded in 2005 as a for-profit arm of The Core Laboratory at Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI). Their founders were instrumental in developing the foundational processes, templates, and cost models to support the multi-function core laboratory that they have since become.

COResearch began as an electronic electrocardiography (eECG) and echocardiography core laboratory, providing ECG and echocardiography services for cardiac-safety clinical-trials research. Backed by the thought, leadership, experience, and enthusiasm of board-certified Duke University faculty physicians, COResearch quickly became an industry leader in ECG and echocardiography core laboratory assessments.

The collective expertise of COResearch physicians encompasses all forms of electrocardiogram (ECG) evaluation and cardiovascular imaging. COResearch physicians are widely recognized as industry and academic leaders in novel medical product development and have experience with product development in all major therapeutic areas. COResearch supports pre-human studies and all phases of clinical trials. In addition to providing core laboratory services, COResearch has served as a coordinating center for many studies, including several Thorough QT trials.
